wednesday_10_00: (no porn?)
...Okay, this is actually about the porn coming back, but whatever.

I happened to be looking through some author pages and noticed that Eda Yuuri (side note: Shitsuji no Tokken A++; real review later) has a book scheduled to be released in August with the publisher listed as "the former Biblos." So I went news hunting and found in the May 2nd entry on this page that the new company, called リブレ (Libre?) has already resumed publishing the Be x Boy magazine, with the next issue to come out June 7th. There's also some confusing info (which the writer even admits she doesn't really understand) about how it is not actually part of the Animate group, but is merely backed by it. (It's a subsidiary? Or however you want to translate 子会社.)

I haven't really gone looking for a lot of other news, but hopefully the magazine will contain ads that will have official dates and stuff for other magazines and tankoubon...I'm not sure we'll see an anthology right away? Who knows. Looking back at previous journal entries, the last issue of Be x Boy came out in April, which means that they will have only missed one month of publication. That's certainly faster than I was expecting things to happen. Bukiyou na Silent, now, plz.

Just sticking to the titles that are lesser known and/or haven't been mentioned on other lists.
Surprisingly short. )

But not so depressing, maybe?

I went to Takanaga Hinako's homepage, thinking she might have some comments on the situation. In her journal, she writes... )

...It sounds more and more to me like things are shaping up to just give us the same old B-boy, sans the rest of the Biblos company. (I find it particularly interesting that Yamato talks not of a new magazine, but the "next issue" of Gold.) I've no idea if this is because another company bought/is buying out the publishing division, or if their budget was separate from the rest of the company so they can just continue on without it, or what, but it seems like maybe things aren't so bleak after all?

I'm still kind of worried about the currently published comics, though; I did some poking around but can't seem to find anyone writing about that. Anyone know any other B-boy authors that have blogs?

Edit: But Kodaka Kazuma (that pessimist) is talking like her works will end up with a new publisher. Now I'm all confused. I wonder if it's up to the author whether they want to find a new publisher or stick with whatever new B-boy-ish entity comes out of this mess?

wednesday_10_00: (You made the bunny cry!)
I thought this was some sort of late April Fool's joke at first, but being on Mainichi makes it look pretty legit: Biblos has declared bankruptcy. Apparently, the BL publishing division was the ONLY part of the business actually making a profit, the rest of it was in the red by some 20 million dollars. According to this page, this month's magazine will still come out, but that's it. No comics on the 10th, even.

I don't really have anything to say. I'm just kind of stunned right now.
