Finally, after two years...progress?
The last few weeks, we've been seeing a lessening in tension between Wednesday and Choco. Tonight, they were actually sitting in the same room, a few feet from each other, with no hissing and no fighting. Eventually, Pumpkin came into the room, and Wednesday hissed at him and ran downstairs, but still...for the first time in a long time, I feel hope that my cats might come to some sort of truce.
No news on my iPod; I'm going to ask again next time I'm at the gym (probably Wednesday), but I'm not very hopeful, and will give up totally after that. Then comes the big decision: What to replace it with? I'm not sure if I want another Nano, or if I should just get a classic, and if the latter, 80 or 160 gig? I'm not in any hurry to cough up the money for either one, so I guess I have plenty of time to think about it.
Speaking of spending money, I got sick of being broke and went into the temp agency, so I now have a job answering phones at a local garbage company. For those of you who (like me, before I started this job) have rarely or never thought of calling the garbage company and think there must not be a lot of traffic on our phones, oh how wrong you are. At any rate, having done it for a couple weeks, I think I'm getting the hang of it, and it's not too bad, really. They hired me for three months, and I'm not sure what's going to happen after that (even if they ask me to stay, I'm not really sure I'd want to), but we'll see. At the very least, it's been worth it to have a little money in my pocket.
Apparently three months is the longest I can go without ordering manga, as I finally broke down and placed an order in March. (Actually, I placed one order a couple weeks ago and one last week. Hey, I had to make up for three months' worth of not buying.) Not that I finished all the stuff I got in Japan (though I have read a lot of it), I just couldn't stand not ordering anymore. Alas, in scheduling my more recent order, I forgot about the LE version of Junjou Romantica 10, and by the time I placed the order it was sold out (T_T), so I decided to conduct a scientific experiment and see how much it would set me back to order it through Masato. So far, it's looking...pretty expensive. >.< But it's all in the name of science! And collecting stuff.
Speaking of manga I bought in Japan, I finally got those books all entered into my database. (I put them into their own category for the time being, so I can look at how ridiculously long the list is.) I feel like I discovered a lot of one shots among them, so I'm thinking of reviving the one shot meme in lieu of actual reviews. But I feel like I should actually finish reading them all, so...maybe not for a while.
I'd heard from various sources that Stargate: Atlantis was really good, and I needed a new show to Netflix (since I've run out of Gilmore Girls and Doctor Who), so I decided to check it out. And it took me all of five seconds before I was all OMG RODNEY EEEEEEEE ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥. I mean, I like the other characters, too, but HOLY SHIT do I love Rodney. I was a little disappointed, to be honest, by the amount of slashiness between John and Rodney; I knew there was a pretty big following for that pairing, but...maybe I'm spoiled by Japanese fandoms and Harry Potter, but there just isn't really enough there for me to do anything other than giggle occasionally. Actually, more than seeing any one pairing, I mostly feel like it's just that everyone (EVERYONE) is in love with John. But that's okay, I still like the show a lot. I Netflixed the first three seasons over the last few weeks; now I'm waiting for a (very very slow!) torrent of the fourth season to finish downloading.
I feel like I had about a million other things I also wanted to talk about, but I guess that's enough catching up for now.
