The second case is the yokai one, yes? That was definitely the weak point in the game for me. (Though the villain in that one is kind of hilarious.) It gets better after that. The cases played as Phoenix are definitely the best. (I don't think that's my bias. I'm pretty sure those are just plain the best cases.)
