Fulfill Civic Duty: check

I went in to vote first thing after the polls opened this morning (got there at about five after seven). It only took about a half hour; there are definitely benefits to living in a small town. (The line was way shorter when I left, too.) I feel lucky to work at a place where they make it clear that voting is more important than getting to work on time, because I was not looking forward to lines this afternoon.

P.S. Heard on NPR yesterday, from an Obama rally: Rosa Parks sat so Martin Luther King could walk. Martin Luther King walked so Obama could run. Obama's running so we all can fly.

About 10 minutes for me, and that includes the time spent filling out my ballot (which was longer than the time it took me to do anything else... including drive there). XD I wasn't even late to work (not really, anyway). Something to be said for going to bed on time so that one may wake up properly in the morning, I suppose. XD

Filling out my ballot was the quickest part for me, since I just did straight party ticket and skipped all the school board trustees and stuff. (I love that the longest part of our ballot is the part that nobody cares about.)

Yeah.. ours is super long with stuff like that too, and I skipped about half of the front page, but I didn't go straight party because I decided to use my voice this time very constructively with some of the partisan offices. (One was, gasp, republican, and one was libertarian!) I also hit up some judge selections and a referendum we've got up for vote. I feel good for my civic duty, ha ha.

Nice quote. I heard that report, too. ^_^
