Seven Days of Manga returns
Well, not that I'm going to attempt to review once a week again, but I do have seven books to talk about.
1, 2. Honto Yajuu 1, 2 - Yamamoto Kotetsuko (sweh!!!)
Amazon recommended Honto Yajuu to me a while ago, but when I read in the description that it was a (yet another) Policeman/Yakuza story, I pretty much lost interest. But then
insaneneko posted about how much she loved it, and the adorable scans totally won me over. Turns out Amazon was right for once! It's AMAZING. There's no really no plot to speak of (Aki, son of a yazuka boss, and Ueda, policeman, fall in love; hijinks ensue), so I'll just let the scans do the talking:

Adorablest. Yakuza. EVER. (This is Aki, with his shiny new key to Ueda's apartment.)

Ueda's pretty adorable himself, especially when he's thinking about Aki.

I don't know who's more adorable here: blushy Aki or doting Ueda.

Despite the blushy-face up above, though, Aki's not exactly an innocent, blushing uke.
RUN, DON'T WALK to your local, ummm...to your online bookstore of choice. Whatever. BUY EET.
3. Kimi wa Amai Amai... - Hanamura Ichika (bleh)
Series of short stories, which I bought partly because of the pretty cover art, and party because the title seemed to promise lots of sweetness. However, the constant expression of near-tears on the ukes' faces in like EVERY SINGLE PANEL, happy or sad, was a serious turn-off.
4. Usagi Otoko Tora Otoko 1 - Honma Akira (sweh)
More yakuza? Why not! This time Uzuki, a small, shy (rabbit-like!) doctor finds Nonami, a (tiger-like!) yakuza, lying in an alley and trying not to bleed to death one night on his way home from work. Uzuki is terrified of Nonami, but treats him anyway...before running away. But Nonami thinks he's fallen in love with the "woman" (hey, all that blood loss, he was really out of it) who helped him and shows up at Uzuki's hospital to find "her"...etc, etc. There's some plot going on with Nonami's yakuza group (which I found kind of boring, frankly), but the interactions between Nonami and Uzuki (and Nonami's flunky) are hilarious and adorable. (But it ends on a cliffhanger! I want the next volume!!)
Obligatory tiger/bunny scan (
spacealien_vamp knows me so well) :

I am totally in love with the little hearts around the tiger in the first panel. XD
5. Dekiai Rule - Natsukawa Shiori (sweh)
Jindou is happily enjoying life as the school nympho until his homeroom teacher, Miyashita, catches him in the act one day. Miyashita takes away Jindou's cell phone (giving him a kid's phone with only Miyashita's number programmed in as a replacement) and forces him to spend his time after school studying. At first Jindou is annoyed by this treatment, but soon falls for Miyashita and realizes that meaningless sex isn't what he wants anymore. I really love how Jindou develops during the course of this story. He falls for Miyashita hard and fast, and at first is frustrated that Miyashita (who is trying to be a good teacher for Jindou) won't have sex with him...but then realizes that he appreciates that Miyashita is basically the only one who ever looked at him as something other than a quick lay. (Though that doesn't exactly stop him from trying to get Miyashita into bed...) He also goes from never studying to purposely attending unnecessary test make up sessions...OK, that's to spend more time with Miyashita, but still.

Jindou's LET'S GO ON A DATE eyes totally crack me up.

Jindou is furious about the cell phone thing at first, but after he falls in love, the kid's phone is like his prize possession, d'awww.
6. Suki mo Kirai mo Jikangai - Marita Yuzu (meh)
Short story collection. The title story is a couple chapters long, about two salarymen, one in IT and one in sales, and I really like the first chapter, where it shows how they work together to make the customer happy (or rather, how the guy in sales makes the guy in IT help him make the customer happy...), but the other chapters were kind of dumb and annoying. The other stories in the book were OK, but nothing to write home about.
7. Sentimental Garden Lover - Ogura Muku (sweh!)
The main story in this book is about cats who (basically) magically turn into humans because they love their owners so much. At first I was kind of iffy about the first couple, because to my mind Fuji didn't seem that cat-like. But then I thought about Pumpkin (not in the food-loving way, but in the big, dumb, protective lunk kind of way) and I liked him better. Shima, on the other hand...

I'll have to look into adding some of the other recommended volumes to my February order.

when I have room in an order
Bah! I bet your order's not THAT big.

Haha, no, I am not in your class. =P Besides not having as big of a manga budget, I can't justify ordering that many manga, since I don't seem to have time to read the ones I've already GOT. (Not that that stops me entirely.)
Looking forward to more reports, though!
