March manga order

For some reason, I'm not very excited about this order, even though it has the new Flesh & Blood in it. Maybe I'll be more enthused once I actually read 13 (I was putting it off because I could tell from the pictures I wouldn't like the cliffhanger). On the other hand, the fact that only about half of them are new releases doesn't help.

But the main problem is what I really want right now is the new Nightrunner book, which doesn't come out until May. TORTURRRRE~

Now you, too, can feel my pain! I think the little snippets of upcoming books she posts just makes it worse. Sometimes I wonder if I shouldn't stop following her journal.


And now I'm going to derail this thread by telling you that I watched the first three episodes of Chuck. (Yay!) Ohhh but starting on a Sunday night was a bad idea. :(

Ha ha! I was trying to figure out where to put it (LJ comment(where?), new post, e-mail?), and then had to do some work so I kinda forgot.

There's some kinda dumb eye-rolly stuff, but overall I like it a lot [plots = pretty lame; characters (minus Sarah*) and humor = awesome], enough that I'm sad I never caught an episode earlier, because I would've started watching it even without knowing a bunch of my friends love it. Honestly, if I could I'd just stay home and veg in front of the TV for the next couple days and marathon it, but alas, I don't have the luxury.

I am A-OK with moving Chuck discussions to unichat, but we'll have to come up with a new spoiler code until I have a chance to catch up.

*I did see the comment you made to sara_tanaquil about this, which is good, because she's...pretty annoying right now.

Hey, is the translation for Silver Diamond any good? I've been curious about how they would handle all the kanji stuff that comes up. Are there notes explaining it or anything?

The Silver Diamond translation seems ok to me, although I literally would not know what I am missing if there's things they omit or alter.

Also, I have picked up the Gestalt that they've (finally) translated, and had some wonderful nostalgic moments remembering when you explained to me what was going on and why characters were walking around with no arms for a couple of books.

Just a few comments on the manga list:

いとしい悪魔 - I started reading this one, but I couldn't get more than a few pages into it. The style of it is just...I don't know...it hurts my brain. Have you read the preceding volume?

そして続きがあるのなら - I read this one, but it didn't make my February report because I haven't finished the short story added at the end. I like the main story okay, I just wish we didn't get so many shots of the uke's leg hair...

I'm currently sad because one of the novels in my March order turned out to be out of stock, so it's going to be longer than usual before my order arrives.

Out of stock is sad! That's why I started placing orders so early. (Though I didn't get it in as early as I meant to this month, hope that doesn't backfire on me...)

No kidding. It's not a new release, though...it's the first volume of a series that just had a side story as a new release. The side story looked really cute, so I wanted to see if I'd like the series.

...Of course, my to-read novel pile is still huge. Can you believe I haven't read the latest Kill the Crows yet?

I'd love to hear your thoughts on Ishino Aya later. Her stuff has caught caught my eye, but so far all I've read from her is an early work from an issue Edge magazine (which later became Opera), that I bought while I was stil living in Japan. Judging from the positive Amazon reviews, she's gotten a lot better since then and her art seems really cute.

I just read (and loooooved) 椿びより (which I intend to post about in more detail later someday), and would highly recommend it, though I should warn that it's only just barely BL. Like, no kissing, no confession, no official relationship (there's some doki-doki feelings and one character saying they're basically a family). But it is still utterly adorable.

椿びより sounds wonderful! I'd love to read more manga like Seven Days, you know, the kind of BL-ish stuff that you don't have to hide behind the other books in your bookshelf. ;)

... which reminds me of Silver Diamond. So volum 19 is coming out, huh. A friend bought me the second half of the series on a business trip last year, but he forgot to buy volume 14 and 16, and volume 18 was released the same day he went back home again so I didn't get that one either. I usually don't skip a volume while reading, but I did so this time because I couldn't bear not reading what would happen next. >_<

But with some luck, I might be able to order some manga later this spring. Only my wish list contains like 40 or 50 must-have titles already.

Speaking of One Piece 57, did you hear they're doing an initial print run of 3,000,000? (which is huge, for those that don't follow such things) And by most projections, it's still expected to sell out fairly quickly.

On the question side of things, how is Ciel shaping up? I read the first 4ish volumes a couple years ago, but haven't found translations of them since =/ It looked pretty darn good though.

I didn't, but the print run for 56 was advertised on the obi, so it doesn't really surprise me. (When I first noticed the obi, though, I was like, "HOLY CRAP.") I'm glad it's doing so well, since it's pretty amazing that it's still so good after this long. (Compare Conan, which, sadly, I got bored of a couple years ago.)

Are you maybe thinking of Cita Cita? Because Ciel and Ciel Tres Tres have been around for quite a while. If you do, I can't answer your question because I don't follow it. If you mean Ciel after all, they both have lots of good stories in them and I'm totally addicted.

Bah, I'm dumb. I actually meant Ciel, the manhwa, which probably isn't on your list :p (It's all about a magic academy filled with lots of shonen/shoujo-ai though, so you can possibly see why I made the assumption :p)

Sigh, how sad is it that I've already lined up my next language to learn, when I'm still working through the basics of Japanese =/

嘘と誤解は恋のせい 小林典雅 -> I didn't like it, you can have my copy if you want to. ^_~ (The characters are quite cute, but the author spends way too much time listing all the questions on the questionnaire which was both boring and lame. It read like a fanfic. The art is great though)

Can I suggest Hichiwa Yuka's "12ji no kane ga naru mae ni" to you instead? It's really well-written IMO :3
