re: Ze 9

1. T_T

2. HA! IN YOUR FACE, WAKI*!

3. Oh, crap, 10 is going to be all about Waki, isn't it. Man, Shimizu Yuki, why do you need to spend so much time making me hate and despise Waki, only to turn around and tell his story, which will most likely make me cry because you ALWAYS make me cry (see item 1). DAMN YOU! *shakes fist*

*Yes, I'm enough of a dork that I actually yelled this at my book. I'm not too proud to admit it.

....I wonder if we'll ever see #9 in English? Not that I have a clue what you're talking about, mind, as I've still got 3 & 4 in the backlog and it's been..... uh... a really long time since I read #2, yeah? Slow starter, that series. Oh well, I guess now I'm looking forward to #9... someday. :)

Slow starter, that series.

It really is. My advice would be to read 1-4 all in one go; it reads better if you do a few at once.

As a side note, I don't think 9 is any better than any other volume in the series. It's just good all around, once you get into it.

Ahahaha I've been rereading previous volumes in light of inferences about [spoiler], and even though we don't know much at this point, you can already look back at Waki's past convos--like the one where he was grilling Kon about choosing an ordinary guy over a kotodama user--and it's alllllll starting to make sense.

I appreciated seeing him get so nasty with Shoui over Asari, actually, because it wasn't just the usual casual maliciousness, it was a window into his inner pain. XDDD

Yeah, I've been meaning to go back and reread, too, though more because I have only vague memories of the earlier stuff about Shoui and Asari, and I know I'll appreciate it more now.

I understand totally what Shimizu is/was trying to do with Waki, and, as an objective observer, I see that the things that he says and does are necessary to get characters (and thus readers) to certain emotional points. And I can even understand how he would be frustrated, seeing reactions like Genma's when Himi was revived over and over again. But none of that stops me from wanting to punch him in the face for being a raging asshole to so many characters I've come to care about. XD;;

(At this point, I think I'm more curious about whether the upcoming arc can make me like Waki than what the story will be.)

I don't follow Ze anymore (has stopped since the licensing) but I always knew Waki's story arc will be painful and something I am looking foward to.

I hope it's better than the last volume of Love Mode, which I felt was sort of disappointing after the long wait for that story. We'll see, I guess.

does this count as pimping?

Telling me that a book will make me cry is anti-pimping. :-P

And yet, you make me curious enough to wonder whether I should give Ze another whirl (I gave up on it long ago and yet have been mechanically buying every volume in Japanese up through 8 -- WHY?). Curse your subtle black arts!

This is GOOD crying, though. Crying with a happy ending. Or happy endings that make you cry. Or both. See also: Gakkou no Sensei (http://wednesday-10-00.livejournal.com/150606.html)

In other words: READ EET.

Ohh, up to vol 9 is it? I'll have to audit to see where I left off and see if I can get more. Is it out in English, too?

Looks like the English version is up to 4. Not sure what's going on with 5 and 6. (5 is up for pre-orer, with a release date of June 8, and you can buy a used copy of 6 for a mere $2000. [WHAT])
