So, after I got back from my week weekend in Moriyama, I called my parents to say hi. Apparently my mom was watering some plants outside last week and accidentally left the water running overnight. Said plants were on the same side of the house as my room, and our basement has leaked water since the beginning of time (at least now it doesn't do it every time it rains like it used to when I was a kid), so naturally my room got flooded. Mom and Dad were going on and on about how wet the carpet was and how they were still drying it days later until I couldn't stand it and interupted them.

Me: But....my books...?
Mom: Oh, those are okay, <I resume breathing> ...Except for those big ones...
Me: <picturing the layout of my room with panic> My artbooks!?
Mom: Is that what they're called?
Me: <nearly in tears>The ones on the bookcase with the tall shelves?
Mom: Oh, no, those are okay. It's just the ones in boxes under you bed.
Me: Oh, the magazines. Well, that's okay.
Mom: Yeah, and some of your Entertainment Weeklys...
Me: <busy trying to remember if anything smutty was hidden under the bed> Oh, I don't care about those.
Mom: I got some plastic storage containers to put your VHS tapes in so those don't get ruined if something like this ever happens again.
Me: Mom, as long as my books are okay, you can flood my room as much as you like.

Seriously, I thought I was going to have a heart attack there for a minute. I almost wish someone had been there to take a picture, because I'm sure the horrified expression on my face was just hilarious. Living away from my manga collection is too stressful. I don't know how much longer I can take it.
