I am once again asking myself to actually USE Dreamwidth. Today’s low-effort attempt at posting: all the books I read in 2022. The first couple were read in January, then I read a whole lot of nothing, and then in June I rediscovered reading (truly, it’s been a dark few years) and borrowed a LOT of books through the network of various local libraries that have reciprocal agreements with my town. I’m keeping track this year, too, so I’m interested in how many I end up with by next year. Anyway:

A Marvellous Light — Freya Marske

None of the Above — I.W. Gregorio
The Passing Playbook — Isaac Fitzsimmons
Going Off Script — Jen Wilde
Under a Painted Sky — Stacey Lee
Nick and Charlie — Alice Oseman

Here’s to Us — Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera

The Long Way to a Small, Angry, Planet — Becky Chambers
A Closed and Common Orbit — Becky Chambers
I Kissed Shara Wheeler — Casey McQuiston
Legends & Lattes — Travis Baldree
Ducks — Kate Beaton

Some notes:

My favorite book of the year was Network Effect. I read it so many times…SO MANY. My favorite 2022 book (as in, book published that year) was Lavender House. (Very much looking forward to its sequel.) I wish I could call I Kissed Shara Wheeler a runner up, because it was such an interesting concept and I loved the side characters and the plot about the fight with the school, but the obliviousness of the main characters was too frustrating for me. So the runner up should probably go to Ducks. I mean, it made Obama’s list for a reason, ya know?

[deleted rant about the Husband Material ending]

To this day, I don’t know how or why I powered through THREE of the Undercover Princess books. I hated them so much (though I really, really wanted to like them). Plenty of DNF books left off this list. This list is finished books only. The Reading Glasses podcast has helped a lot with freeing myself of the guilt of dumping books when I’m just not feeling it.
