happy birthday to me!
(This stuff came a week too late to be a real birthday present, but "present to myself" was my excuse for this grotesque display of consumerism.)
THE BOX:

For scale, shown with July manga order (top) and cat (bottom). Also, in the top picture, you can see my new Twinkle plushie, which was an exclusive mail-in offer for buying all the season 1 Sekaiichi Hatsukoi special edition DVDs (though I had to pay an arm and a leg to have a deputy service to get it to me). I was expecting her to be the same size as my Suzuki-san plush, but she's quite a bit bigger. Anyway...

Unpacking.

Everything all spread out. From left: kung fu dugong, guard point chopper (one to hang in my car, one to keep nice in my room because I expect the one in my car to fade), four wanted posters in the skinny boxes (Luffy, Zoro, Sogeking, Chopper), Perona*, Sogeking, Strong World Chopper figures; in the middle are (ridiculously expensive!!) placemats and a clear file from Animate Cafe's Junjou Romantica event, Hello Kitty x Chopper clips, and two Winter Comiket doujinshi (Chintsubu I and a Rule Sono Ichi thing--sadly, I could not find a single Yasashiku Shinaide 6 auction during about two weeks of searching).
*Not like Perona's a favorite character or anything; I just really like her design. I guess I'm as bad as any fanboy...though I didn't take any pleasure in her sexy panties.

The new shelf arrangement--I really should put the One Piece figures on a deeper bookcase (they are forced almost sideways on this one), but that would take a major overhaul of my current nick-knack/figure/toy configuration.
(I would also take a picture of the dugong and Chopper in their new home, but my plushie pile needs to be rearranged and I think it might be an all day project. OK, slight exaggeration, but I have a LOT of plushies.)

Closeup.
(Next on my list: Strong World Zoro? [Strong World Zoro is hella expensive!] Ace? Luffy? Robin? Wedding version Hancock? [Haha, not really, but it's hilarious that this exists.] Not sure, but that's OK, because my budget needs a little recovery time. I'm certainly not buying three at once next time, sheesh.)

Is Chopper carrying a gun strapped to his back? Does his antler have the little metal repair band on it? (Guard Point Chopper's hat looks vaguely NASCARish. Ugh. Why do things change?)

I'm sad for you, but relieved for me? I can admire your gift to you unfettered by ugly jealousy. Japan2013!
Was this a One Piece flash obsession brought on by Sara, or did you already own One Piece merchandise?

I'll try to remember to do this later. I actually tried to get Wednesday into the shot with the box and Twinkle, but she wasn't having any of that, so I had to move the box over to where she was. (Choco would have jumped right into the box, I'm sure, but she was upstairs asleep.)

Yes (in the Strong World movie, the Strawhats spend the last half hour or so of the movie wearing suits and carrying lots of guns) and yes (it's hidden by his hat from the angle the picture was taken).
Why do things change?
I sympathize. It took me a long time to get used to that hat, too. (To be honest, this guard point plush was the first time I didn't hate it.)
Japan2013!
I'm sorta hoping that it'll get more available after Summer Comiket...which is this weekend. Great, now I'm newly depressed that I'm not going. Quick, remind me of how hot it is!

Um...yes and yes? That is, I did already own One Piece merchandise, yes. And I've been eying a lot of the figures in the POP (Portrait of Pirates) line for a long time. (I actually considered buying Perona and in Japan last year, though I can't remember now whether it was the price tag or the size of the box that stopped me.) Sara did revive my interest in One Piece...but I can't really blame her for my urge to BUY ALL THE THINGS; I'm sorry to say that's something I don't need any help with.

It's not the heat. It's the humidity.

Is it just me, or is Twinkle ironically huge? Like too huge to be "cute."

It's not just you. I wish she was smaller. Or at least that her head was smaller in proportion to her body.
(Edited to remove extra picture. How did that even happen?)

(But, the Kung Fu Dugong! OMG the cute!)

I can't argue with that, honestly. Why do I have to love so many expensive things? :(
