wednesday_10_00: (celty - fortune)
(Sorry, apparently I am not going to stop talking about this anytime soon. Feel free to ignore and/or come back after watching.)

This makes me laugh no matter how many times I look at it. XD

Re-watching the first few episodes is 1/2 awesome (it all makes sense now) and 1/2 makes me feel incredibly stupid. I can't even believe some of the stuff I didn't catch the first time around. orz

Yesterday my shipment from Amazon* arrived, including the first four novels. After I placed the order, I started worrying that four wasn't enough, that I'd burn through them before I got the rest from BK1. But they're pretty thick (as far as light novels go), so I don't think it'll be a problem.

So far:

1. Seiji is even MORE of a creeper than in the anime. He thinks of Celty's head as his GIRLFRIEND??? AHHHHH. AHHHHHHH. Also, He likes her because she's beautiful and "very quiet"??? AUGH, GROSS, DNW. D:

2. On the other hand, Celty is even more of a badass? So that's something.

3. Shinra apparently really likes four kanji compounds, so I started a vocabulary list. (I figure it's something I should study more anyway.) One chapter so far with Shinra; he's only on like three pages and I've already added four items to the list. Sheesh. (He has a line where he doesn't use any and Celty thinks he must really be serious, lol.)

4. Things are presented in a different order, but otherwise the anime seems to follow the novel pretty closely. I'm thinking that 2 and 3 might not be as close, just because those books were compressed into fewer episodes. We'll see, I guess.

*Originally, this order was just going to be the Sekaiichi Hatsukoi DVDs. They're all in the same order to save on shipping, though they'll still be shipped separately. And then somehow the Durarara novels found their way in there too. Why wait two weeks for BK1's SAL shipment for ALL of them, amirite?

So I just finished Durarara!!, after starting it earlier this week. I watched like, the first two episodes Wednesday, then up to 8 Thursday evening, and then finished last night around midnight. (So, 9-25 + special, in one day. Also, thank you, Crunchyroll iPhone app, for the two episodes I watched during my lunch hour at work.) To be honest, I didn't find the second half of the show quite as compelling as the first half (especially episodes 8-12), but that's mainly because the second half wasn't as much about Celty and she is totally my favorite character. It was still addictive enough to keep me watching, obviously.

things I love )

Somehow, the first couple novels just found their way into my Amazon shopping cart. I mean, the anime only covers the first three books, and there are nine so far. This lack of knowledge about what happens after the anime must be remedied, obviously.

Semi-related: I have to say, I'm happy that I'm getting back into anime in time for my Japan trip this summer. I haven't really been into it on my last couple trips, and it's really sad to look around the goods floor of Animate and not be interested in any of it because you don't know any of the shows. Not to mention it will make doujinshi browsing more fun.
